UK Entry Clearance Application – Entry Visas

Entry Clearance sometimes also called Visa, is a document which allows or permits the holder to travel to the UK, it may be granted for six months, two, five- or ten-years period and for different purposes. However, you are not allowed to spend more than six months in the UK without leaving the country even if you have a ten years visa endorsed in your passport if you are in the Visitor or tourist categories. The application must be made at the British High Commission, Embassies, or their approved agent abroad. The application will be accessed in line with the existing immigration rules, and the applicant is either granted or denied. Most denied applications have no right of appeal but there is an alternative way to challenge bad decisions by the Entry Clearance officers.

All visa applicants require entry clearance before they enter the UK even if they come as tourists.

Non-visa nationals can travel to the UK without having applied for a visa in advance, applying to enter the UK at the border. For all other types of visa, however, entry clearance must be sought and granted before making the journey.

Application Process To Get UK Entry Visa:

There are several categories of entry clearance, depending on the type of visa. The application should be made in the country of residence of the applicant (e.g. where they have permission to live). They can apply for entry clearance at the British Embassy or High Commission in their home country.

You can apply for entry clearance to the UK by completing an online application form which is available on the UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) website.

After you complete the application form, you need to book an appointment to attend your local Visa Application Centre to enroll your biometry and provide documentation, they may be originals or copies. Further services such as scanning and uploading of documents are available at the application center.

After the appointment and thorough examination of your entry clearance application, you will get a decision from UKVI. This can take between fifteen working days or more, depending upon the type of application you made.

Once your entry clearance application has been approved, you will receive a short-term visa vignette in your passport in order to enter the UK. While in the UK, if you in the category that qualifies for Biometric Residence Permit (BRP), you can pick the same from the local post office or address indicated in your application form.
